Ghana lifts the Under-20 World Cup

Ghanaian players celebrate

Egypt. After a tension soaked barren 120 minutes of play, the Ghana Under-20 football team, through penalty shoot-outs beats its Brazilian opponents, 4 goals to 3, to lift the trophy. Within the first 25 minutes of play, Ghana got a red card that left the team playing 10 men against 11.

In a match that saw both teams displaying tactical knowledge of the game, Ghana dominated most part of the game, but could not score a goal. In four different occasions, the Brazilians had only the Ghanaian goalkeeper to beat, but the goalie was equal to the task.

It will be recalled that all through the competition the Ghanaian team showed skills and determination to win the trophy. With this outstanding feat, Ghana becomes the first African country to win the Under-17 World Cup.
